There is a hunger abroad in our time, haunting lives and hearts.
"There is a hunger abroad in our time, haunting lives and hearts... Both within and beyond traditional faith communities, a hunger for spiritual depth and integrity is gaining momentum..." - Marjorie J. Thompson in Soul Feast
The Spiritual Life Center of Virginia was born to respond to the deep hunger for connection to ourselves, each other, Earth, and the One who created us all.
Hunger tells us we need something and spiritual hunger is no different. Each of us has a unique spiritual life center within us that holds the very essence of who we are. That center is also the place that generates the pangs of spiritual hunger. If yours is an unfamiliar wilderness, we are here to act as guides as you explore ways to be fed. If it is a familiar landscape, we are here to companion you on an even deeper journey.
Agencies, organizations, schools, companies, congregations and communities also have spiritual life centers that, when developed, can breathe deep joy, courage, and integrity into their actions. Whether your group is well nourished and healthy, in need of relationship building, or just wondering what priorities to set, we are able to listen alongside you for invitations emerging from the spiritual heart of your community or congregation.
The Spiritual Life Center of Virginia is contemplatively orientated, allowing us to serve within and beyond traditional faith communities. Through our web of resources, we are able to provide:
individual and group spiritual guidance;
personal and organizational discernment through sacred listening groups;
contemplative retreats and prayer gatherings;
spiritual care programs for clergy and laity;
resources for survivors of domestic or sexual violence;
spiritual practices training tailored to those with whom we are working,
sacred dream work.
All of our associates have extensive training in spiritual direction and contemplative practices. We are supported primarily through grants and donations.
